The time for bank holidays is upon is, and what better way to celebrate the long weekend than with the wind in your hair and the car stereo up. Whether you’re road tripping to the coast, on a city break or just driving to the shops, we’ve picked some tunes that’ll turn up the vibes.

George Ezra – Shotgun

Sitting up front as the sun beams down and the open road unfurls ahead, George knows how to soundtrack the perfect road trip. Released in 2018 from his second album Staying at Tamara’s, it was his first UK number one and has since been certified 7 times platinum!

Billy Ocean – When the Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going

Billy’s biggest chart hit and the theme to 1985 movie The Jewel of the Nile, it was a UK number 1 and reached number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Not every trip can be smooth driving, so when the traffic gets heavy and the services are far away, this motivational anthem is the perfect fuel.

Natasha Bedingfield – Unwritten

Released in 2004 as the title track from Natasha’s debut album, this ode to possibility has accelerated over the past 20 years into a monster hit. While we’re hoping for sunny weather this weekend, if you should feel the rain on your skin just be sure to release your inhibitions at the same time.

Carole King – Where You Lead

“If you’re out on the road….” Carole’s 1970s call to adventure was made famous in recent years as the theme to Gilmore Girls. A dedication to companionship, grab your best friends, load up the car and hit the gas for an unforgettable weekend accompanied by this epic singalong.

Train – Hey, Soul Sister

This feel good hit of the 00’s was the second best-selling song in the US in 2010 where it’s since been certified an enormous 13 times platinum! With a hook of uke, this pop-rock ray of sun is the perfect wave to float out your stereo. So even if you’re at the wheel, remember to take the Train!
