Blue Öyster Cult’s 1977 single ‘Godzilla’ was every bit as subtle as a giant lizard crushing an overcrowded metropolis at the height of rush hour.
And while the steam-breathing monstrosity at the back of the stage might seem a little tame to modern eyes, the sound of that three-guitar attack has lost none of its ability to trample all before it. Little wonder that it’s been covered by many bands including Fu Manchu, Smashing Pumpkins and others.
