VIDEO OF THE WEEK: DEPECHE MODE – ‘ENJOY THE SILENCE’

The second single to be released from Depeche Mode’s seventh studio album, ‘Violator’, this was also their seventh Top 10 UK single.
Directed by the celebrated Dutch photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn, this video finds singer Dave Gahan dressed as a king carrying a deck chair across a variety of locations including the hillsides of the Scottish Highlands, the coast of the Algarve in Portugal and finally the Swiss Alps.
The video is interspersed with monochrome shots of band, which led Andy Fletcher to joke that he “only had to do about an hour’s worth of work.” Nice work if you can get it!
