A UK No.4 hit and global Top 10 smash hit, the video to ‘Hold On Tight’ was, upon its release in 1981, the most expensive promo ever shot.
Made on a budget of some £40,000, ‘Hold On Tight’ – the first single to be lifted from ELO’s ninth studio album, ‘Time’ – featured a largely black and white video finding ELO playing the song in a lounge, cut with scenes that pay homage to the serial films of the 1940s.
The video also features the band’s former violinist Mik Kaminski on guitar despite having already left the band and not featuring on the album.
