VIDEO OF THE WEEK: ELO – ‘THE DIARY OF HORACE WIMP’
August 3, 2020
Harnessing the opportunities of the nascent video age, ELO made the canny move of simultaneously releasing their eighth studio, ‘Discovery’, on video as well as vinyl and cassette.
Each track on the album had its own dedicated video, but the visual highlight is undoutedly the promo for ‘The Diary Of Horace Wimp’.
Blending contemporaneously cutting edge animation with live action, this charming and endearing video proves that ELO’s eyes were every bit as sharp and focussed as their ears.
Indeed, this is sound and vision working perfectly in tandem together and as good a reason as any as to its continuing popularity.
