This feminist anthem finds Eurythmics teaming up with the late soul legend Aretha Franklin for one of the defining tracks of the 80s.
Directed by Eddie Arno and Markus Innocenti (who would also work with Bob Dylan on ‘When The Night Comes Falling From The Sky’) and shot at Detroit’s Music Hall, the video is interspersed with numerous black and white films including shots of suffragettes and female empowerment.
Reaching No. 9 in the UK singles charts, ‘Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves’ simultaneously appeared on Eurythmics’ ‘Be Yourself Tonight’ and Aretha Franklin’s ‘Who’s Zooming Who’ albums.
