Released as the first single from the film of the same name, ‘Footloose’ was one of the earliest instances of a film and its soundtrack being utterly, inextricably linked.
Directed by Brian Grant, who also worked with Whitney Houston and Meat Loaf, the video montage of scenes from the film capture the exuberance at its heart.
The most iconic image is that of Kevin Bacon performing a dance routine in a warehouse – although he actually danced to ‘Never’ by Australian band Moving Pictures in the movie.
A global smash, Kenny Loggins’ ‘Footloose’ also nabbed an Oscar nomination for ‘Best Original Song’.
