Taken from his final and most successful album, ‘Midnight Love’, lead single ‘Sexual Healing’ was the record that put Marvin Gaye back on top.
After several years of introspection and self-imposed exile in Belgium, not only did its groundbreaking and mellow funk vibe do the business for Marvin Gaye, it also opened the floodgates for a slew of bands and artists who followed in his wake.
The video is very much of its time as it alternates between Marvin singing in a smoky club and then getting it on with a female doctor (see what they did there?).
Yet for all that, this a stone-cold classic and one deserving of its Grammys for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Instrumental Performance.
