Filmed before promo videos became common currency, this clip for the third single to be released from the planet-straddling success that was the ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ album was originally shown in cinemas.
Serving as the support feature to the cult musical ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’, it gained a second wind several years after its 1977 release when MTV picked up on it because of the paucity of videos in its earliest days.
And you can see why: with Karla DeVito taking the place of Ellen Foley who originally sang the song, the chemistry between her and Meat Loaf is entirely palpable. No wonder he makes his vow.
