This day in 1991, Pearl Jam released their debut album ‘Ten’.
‘Jeremy’ was inspired by an article Eddie Vedder read about a student who shot himself in front of his English class in 1991. It catapulted the band in the limelight and fits right in the grunge era imagery, with a very tense and frenetic music video directed by Mark Pellington. In spite of attracting much controversy at the time, it won numerous MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Video of the Year in 1993.
