Inspired by the tragic story of American teenager Jeremy Wade Delle, who shot himself in front of his classmates, ‘Jeremy’ was one of Pearl Jam’s darker steps on the path to global superstardom.
Directed by Mark Pellington, the hard-hitting video focuses on the alienation of the titular character as he suffers both at home and school before concluding in a painfully tragic fashion.
Heavy rotation followed on MTV and such was its power that it won the broadcaster’s Video Of The Year award in 1993.
Despite the passing of the years, this stunning video has lost none of its power, impact or clout.
