It’s one thing having three voices blend in perfect harmony, but it’s quite another when those vocal skills are given the chance to unite in a band that has three songwriters.
Taken from their sixth studio album, ‘Songs From Northern Britain’, and released right when Britpop was waking up to an almighty hangover, this is arguably Teenage Fanclub at the peak of their powers.
Those glorious chiming guitars and harmonies are illustrated by the band’s tongue-in-cheek video celebrating their Caledonian homeland. Singer-guitarist Norman Blake later joked: “We just thought it sounded funny. No one calls Scotland ‘Northern Britain’ although technically it is.”
