While multi-media promotion is a regular fixture of 21st century life, this was an entirely new concept three decades ago.
So it was that The The – the brainchild of singer-songwriter Matt Johnson – promoted the release of their second album, ‘Infected’, with the then revolutionary idea of a video album.
Each of the album’s eight tracks would have an accompanying
promotional film. The punishing schedule and Johnson’s failure to look after his health took its toll on him though the videos were highly acclaimed.
The video for ‘Infected’ is directed by former Throbbing Gristle member, the late Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson.
