VIDEO OF THE WEEK: The Psychedelic Furs – ‘Pretty In Pink’
September 9, 2017
Taken from their second album, ‘Talk Talk Talk’, and released in 1981, ‘Pretty In Pink’ is the moment where The Psychedelic Furs ditched the punk influences of their eponymous debut album to introduce a sharper and brighter side to their output.
In the process the band scored their first UK Top 50 hit, cemented the album’s best-known track and provided inspiration for director John Hughes’ 1986 film of the same name.
This tale of a romantic uncertainty is one of the band’s true career highlights – this original and definitive version is produced by Steve Lillywhite and captures the band as they successfully straddle pop and rock to create a timeless classic.
