VIDEO OF THE WEEK: ‘Shakin’ Stevens – ‘Green Door’

April 2, 2000

The most successful singles artist of the 1980s, Shakin’ Stevens had already had a career as a singer since the early 1970s when ‘Green Door’ became his second UK No. 1 in 1981.

Adding to the air of mystery concerning what exactly it was that lay behind the titular entrance is the fact that Shaky barely appears in the video himself, opting instead for some of the high energy leaps and jumps that charcterised his live performances.

This hit single would also provide the title Rik Mayall’s comedy classic ‘Kevin Turvey: Behind The Green Door’.
