To mark the formation of one of the greatest boy bands in history, this month’s Artist Spotlight focuses on the Backstreet Boys. Here are some facts about the band that you might not know…
– ‘I Want It That Way’ was the first single from the Backstreet Boys third album ‘Millennium’ which broke the US record for the fastest-selling album ever.
– The video to ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’ won ‘Best Group Video’ at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards.
– The dance-pop hit ‘Larger Than Life’ is a thank you letter to fans for sticking with the band through their ups and downs.
– ‘As Long As You Love Me’ is one of the band’s biggest hits and considered one of their signature songs.
– Did you know? Band members Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell are first cousins. In fact, it was Kevin who introduced Brian to the Backstreet Boys and helped to complete the line up of the band as it is best known.
– About being together for so long, the band said “We’ve always prided ourselves on just being honest with our fans and being honest with each other. That is probably one of the biggest reasons why we’ve been together for almost 29 years.”
