TOP TEN DREAM SONGS

March 16, 2018

Far too prolific to have a single signature tune, ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)’ is nonetheless the track our Artists of the Month, Eurythmics, are perhaps best known for.

But it wasn’t the first or last song about the popular nocturnal hallucinations. Here’s our dreams top ten…

Paul Simon and Edie Brickell – ‘All I Have To Do Is Dream’

Maybe Paul and former partner Art aren’t so harmonious these days, but he really hits the spot with his wife Edie Brickell on this Everly Brothers cover.

Billy Joel – ‘The River Of Dreams’

Billy gets all metaphorical with us as he compares the journey of life to that of a stream that flows into an ocean. And like a jump in the Mississippi, it’s as deep as it is refreshing.

Elvis Presley – ‘The Impossible Dream’

From Broadway to Madison Square Garden, The King applies his special touch to make this dream come true.

Aerosmith – ‘Dream On’

A bona fide classic single and an international anthem for generations of rock fans the world over.

The Lovin’ Spoonful – ‘Daydream’

Hazy, lazy and with a killer tune to match, this is what summer afternoons were invented for.

Bob Dylan – ‘Bob Dylan’s Dream’

Scholars may still argue over this song’s origins and meaning, but there’d be another 114 dreams from Bob.

Bobby Lewis – ‘Tossin’ And Turnin’’

Ah, c’mon now! You try to keep still to this rockin’ R&B number, let alone trying to get some sleep to dream. We dare you!

The Electric Prunes – ‘I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night’

From the golden age of psychedelia comes this glorious, fuzzed-out classic that’ll worm itself into your subconscious and stay there forever.

Alice Cooper – ‘Welcome To My Nightmare’

It’s not all sweet dreams round these parts! But try avoiding cheese before bedtime…

Eurythmics – ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)’

Now this is what you call a smash hit. The moment Annie and Dave’s dreams came true.
