Our Album of The Month for October is ‘Stankonia’, the fourth studio album from Outkast. The album was released 21 years ago on 31st October, 2000!

Here’s a couple of things you may or may not already know about the ‘Stankonia’ album:

– ‘Stankonia’ was the fourth album released by American Hip Hop duo Outkast and it peaked at #10 on the Official UK Chart.

– The album was named after the recording studio that the duo bought in 1998. ‘Stankonia’ was a word that André created himself, and he explained that ‘Stankonia’ “is this place I imagined where you can open yourself up and be free to express anything”.

– The album spawned the worldwide hits, ‘So Fresh, So Clean’, ‘Ms. Jackson’ and ‘B.O.B’.

– ‘Ms. Jackson’ remains the duo’s highest charting song in the UK to date, peaking at #2 on the Official UK Chart.

– Both Big Boi and André drew from their own personal experiences to write their verses for ‘Ms. Jackson’, reflecting on strained relationships that become victims of bitter arguments between two people that once loved each other.
